If you’re an Xbox user and love interacting with friends on Discord, we have exciting news for you. Microsoft has recently made improvements to the Discord integration on Xbox, allowing you to now stream your gameplay directly to your friends on Discord. In this article, we will discuss the steps to enable this feature, customization options, and its availability for different consoles.

Enabling Gameplay Streaming on Discord

To start streaming your gameplay on Discord, follow these steps:

  1. Open Discord and navigate to the voice channel you want to stream in.
  2. Once you are in the voice channel, look for the new option called “Stream Your Game.”
  3. Before enabling the stream, you have the option to customize the streaming quality. By default, the quality is set to 720p if you don’t have Nitro, and 1080p if you do. You can also configure the frame rates, which can be either 30 or 60, depending on whether you have Nitro.
  4. If you have Nitro and want to stream at the highest quality, choose the 1080p, 60 frames per second option.
  5. Once you have customized the settings, click on “Stream Your Game” and then select “Start Stream.”

Understand the Streaming Experience

Once you start streaming your gameplay on Discord, here’s what you can expect:

  1. At the top of the screen, you will see a timer indicating the duration of your stream.
  2. Your gameplay will be visible to your friends on Discord, enabling them to watch and follow along with your gaming experience.
  3. It’s important to note that if you tab out to the Xbox dashboard or any other application, your friends will not be able to see what you are doing. The stream will pause temporarily, and a small animation will be displayed in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Availability and Future Updates

Currently, this feature is only available for Alpha and Skip ahead Alpha users, who are part of the Xbox Insider program. However, Microsoft plans to roll out this integration to all Xbox Series S and X consoles in the coming months.

It’s worth mentioning that while you can stream your gameplay to Discord, the ability to view streams from your friends on Discord is not yet supported. This means that if your PC friends are streaming their gameplay on Discord, you won’t be able to see their streams on your Xbox console. Nonetheless, it is advisable to provide feedback to Microsoft requesting this feature as it has been highly requested by users.

The integration of Xbox and Discord has been eagerly anticipated by gamers, and it’s great to see Microsoft delivering on this much-desired feature. By streaming your gameplay to Discord, you can engage with your friends, share your gaming experiences, and create a more immersive gaming community.
